Norodom Sihanouk: "Message to Man"
In 1993, a tiny group of Cambodian figures attempted to achieve the secession of a handful of provinces from Cambodia. I succeeded in putting a halt to their action by promising amnesty to the guilty parties if they accepted to immediately rally to the central government. These amateur secessionists did so and everything fell back into place without any bloodshed. But this film refers to an attempted secession which took place in Cambodia several centuries ago.
The Cambodian government of those times had to ruthlessly quash all attempts at secession.
Indeed, it was (and is) not possible to accept the dislocation of one's homeland.
