"In "MY VILLAGE AT DUSK" (1992), I wanted to show the realities (happiness and misfortune) of a Khmer village whose surrounding areas, including fields and rice paddies, are riddled with landmines; the courage, abnegation, sacrifices of some, the despair of others; the present difference in the way of life between city (Phnom Penh) and country; Cambodia's uncertain future in which the process of domestic reconciliation is still a precarious one."
