Phurissa is a very successful writer who becomes incurably ill at the age of forty.
He only has a year to live. His beautiful wife Malay is from a rich family, but their
marriage is not blessed: Malay has fallen in love with an ambitious politician.
Phurissa wants to see historic Angkor once more, but Malay stays in Phnom Penh.
Sopheap, a cousin of Malay and medical student, tries to treat Phurissa. He feels
happy in Angkor, where he can read books by his favourite French authors. Sopheap
falls hopelessly in love with the writer.
